The artist's words
“Akradjo” is a work inspired by an Ivorian town that left its mark on people’s minds during the last AFCON. Through this title, the artist pays tribute to African culture and its ancestral traditions. On the canvas, an old woman pours water onto the ground, a symbolic gesture full of respect and spirituality. This ritual, practised in many villages, accompanies departures and returns, in order to ask for the protection of the ancestors. The artist highlights the depth of this gesture, often discreet yet carrying great meaning. Through the softness of the colours and the strength of the symbol, he celebrates African collective memory. Akradjo thus becomes a meeting place between past and present. It is a reminder of our origins, our identity and the richness of our customs. The work invites everyone to reconnect with their roots and to honour the wisdom of those who came before us.
